Introduction

The technological growth is happening rapidly in the modern world, especially with the remarkable advancements of the cloud services, data management system has become more stronger with decrease in the maintenance cost (Basso et al., 2019). The introduction of cloud computing in the database management has also increase the security of the data while increasing the reliability of the systems (Poniszewska-Maranda et al., 2020). Database Management System is highly important as it deals with the data transfer in the databases while managing the data. The cloud-based database management system has allowed the individuals to easily access any file from anywhere all over the world (Poniszewska-Maranda et al., 2020). The study will evaluate

Research Objectives

The research objectives of this research are-

  • To understand the role of Database Management System or DMS as a Cloud Service
  • To understand the process of working of Database Management System
  • To understand the practical implications of Database Management System as a cloud service

Literature Review

According to Medina-Martínez et al., 2020, Database Management Systems (DMS) are systems that manages the data and transfers data of a database according to the input from the users. These systems allow the users to add, edit, delete, or download a data from a database. DMS manages the data and the database to offer the users to interact or do anything with the data. These systems ensure the security of the data by maintaining the proper administrative processes and by providing access to the appropriate channel and conducting authentication checks in order to maintain data security.

The database management systems have become more powerful after the plantation of cloud computing as it has benefitted the systems with remarkable advantages (Mahfoud and Nouali-Taboudjemat, 2019). The cloud based DMS can efficiently work while cutting down the costs of the traditional DMS while providing access to the users anytime and anywhere in the world (Mahfoud and Nouali-Taboudjemat, 2019). A specific advantage that is provided by the cloud-based DMS is that they are capable to handle enormous volumes of data that is not possible with the traditional DMS (Ma et al., 2018). The cloud-based DMS are largely used in the development and testing of the new applications based on cloud computing (Ma et al., 2018).

Research Methodology

Research Design

The research design will be a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative research design as the data and statistics of various companies will be analyzed in the study along with the past literatures in order to successfully meet the research objectives.

Research Approach

The research approach will be based on the secondary data following a mixed approach of quantitative and qualitative study.

Data Collection

The data will be collected by secondary sources like from the companies’ own data, statistics, and the articles that are available in the Google Scholar.

Data Analysis

The data that is collected via secondary sources will be evaluated by using statistical methods for the quantitative data and the qualitative data will be critically read by the researchers.

Conclusion

The Database Management System is a software that allows the users to create, delete, or edit data easily over a database. The cloud computing has become an integral part of these systems over the last few decades. In this research, the role of database management system will be evaluated as a cloud service.
